My Races

I was inspired by fellow running bloggers to keep a race page on the blog. It is a great idea to keep record of your races and personal records (PR). One of the reasons my list is currently short is because I don’t always like spending $35+ for races. The other reason is because I just got into running during the summer of 2009 when I moved to Galveston, TX. I couldn’t afford a gym membership, so I decided to start running because it was free. I began with 5 minutes at a time and worked my way to up 3 miles in about two months. After two weeks of running, I decided to sign up for a 5k to keep myself motivated. I’m a self motivator, but I also like having goals to work for. My inaugural 5k was the Galveston Re-birth Race on September 13th, 2009. This was held the year after Galveston was hit by Hurricane Ike, to celebrate the city and the progress that had been made to rebuild the island.

Past Races – PR’s in bold:

1. Galveston Re-birth Race – 5k – 32:18 – September 13, 2009
2. Houston Homeless Run – 5k – 24 minutes – December 2009
***consensus at the finish line was that the course was not a full 5k, hence my incredibly fast time***
3. San Antonio Rock’N’Roll Half Marathon – 13.1 miles – 2:02:00 – November 11, 2010
4. Austin Shape Diva Dash – 5k with Obstacles – 33 minutes – April 2011
